Course description: This course introduces the study of word and its structure. Students will learn the basic concepts in morphology, the derivational and the inflectional morphology, and word formation processes.

Course format: Lecture, in class discussion, group work

Course policies: Students will learn any materials best if they become the "authorityā€¯ of knowledge. I expect students to be independent and active participants. Therefore, they need to come to class well-prepared in order to be able to engage in discussions and to work on the class assignments.

Additionally, I expect students to submit their assignments on time. Delays in turning in assignment will result in penalties. Students who cannot submit their assignments on time because of sickness or other very good reasons should inform the instructor before the due date.

In accordance with the university policy, I expect students to come to class regularly. Students who attend less than 75 percent of the total class meetings will not be allowed to take the final test. If you have a legitimate reason to skip a meeting, come to me in person.

Many of the assignments are group assignments; therefore, I expect students to get used to work in teams. Since group scores are dependent on the effort of each member, I highly encourage every member to take active participation in completing the assignment.

Academic Honesty: I highly encourage students to collaborate with other students when they work on their assignments. However, students MUST submit their own written work for individual assignments. In completing any written work, students MUST use appropriate citations for any information taken from books, web sites, or any other sources of information. Academic scholarship requires that a person acknowledges the work of other scholars by citing their work properly.

Concerns: If you have any concerns regarding the teaching materials, assignments, or anything about this class, you are welcome to see me after class or make an appointment to resolve your concerns.
